Compuware Helps Handle Mainframe Developer Shuffle
By Jeff Feinman

July 29, 2008 — Compuware has added a Web interface to its application fault management product line, which helps IT organizations deal with veteran workers retiring from the mainframe field.

Abend-AID 11, released today, helps ease the transition of new workers coming in to work on mainframes. According to Compuware executives, the new version augments the “green screen” interface with more modern and agile technologies to familiarize new workers with their systems.

The company said that more than 80 percent of the world’s corporate data is stored on mainframes, and it is continuing to invest in the mainframe platform.

In addition to the new Web interface, Abend-AID 11 also improved root-cause analysis for COBOL programs and enhanced interoperability with IBM’s DB2 data server line, according to the company. These new features increase the speed at which users can diagnose issues.
