AT&T has launched a new helpdesk service aimed at smaller businesses. The Tech Support 360 package is available now, starting at US$19 per month per computer, and offers online and phone-based booking. According to the company, the service offers help for over 300 common business software applications, as well as a number of printers and wireless access points. Additional device support that embraces BlackBerry phones and PDAs is included.

Microsoft and Novell announced a joint virtualization offering that includes SUSE Linux Enterprise Server as a guest OS on top of Windows Server 2008 with Hyper-V. The combination is available through a number of the companies’ channel partners, including Continental Resources, Dell, Total Tec Systems and 21Vianet.

SecureLogix released a set of free VoIP security assessment tools that can measure one’s exposure to SIP-based threats such as DoS and man-in-the-middle attacks, as well as eavesdropping, audio insertion and deletion, and call teardown. These are refinements of tools that were first developed by company CTO and vice president of engineering Mark Collier and R&D team member Mark O’Brien; earlier versions were published in 2006 as a supplement to the book “Hacking Exposed: VoIP,” which Collier co-authored.

LogLogic shipped release 4.6 of its namesake management tools, introducing role-based access control and Active Directory authentication for the company’s LX, MX and ST appliances. LogLogic 4.6 also adds an index search UI, stored search history and the Forensics Clipboard, which provides up to 100 clipboards per user.

Citrix Systems announced the release of XenServer 5, including what the company claimed to be over 100 new features, such as disaster recovery and high-availability functionality. The company also took the wraps off its cloud computing efforts, which are based on XenServer Cloud Edition and offer consumption-based pricing for metered resource environments.
