EMC Puts Content on Center Stage
By Jeff Feinman

July 23, 2008 — EMC has made improvements to XML capabilities and records management in the latest version of its content management product.

Documentum Enterprise Content Management Suite 6.5, announced today, is a collaboration product for content management. New offerings in version 6.5 consist of the CenterStage Essentials client that gives shared team workspaces; the Media WorkSpace rich media interface that views rich media assets; and the My Documentum client that provides desktop access to content that users apply most often.

The product now has a Documentum XML Store feature, which is an XML database that lets users create and access XML alongside all other types of XML content. There are new management and search and query capabilities of XML content, according to EMC. Documentum Enterprise Content Management Suite 6.5 also has dashboards with interactive charts that indicate performance status. These dashboards can be updated in real time, the company said.

Version 6.5 and its new features will be available on July 31, except for CenterStage Essentials and My Documentum, which will be released later in the quarter.
