Tech-Ed '08 Caters to IT Pros

May 19, 2008 —  This year, for the first time, Tech-Ed, a Microsoft-hosted event, has expanded from a one-week conference into two separate conferences held over two weeks in Orlando. Tech-Ed North America 2008 Developers will take place from June 3 to 6 and Tech-Ed North America 2008 IT Professionals is from June 10 to 13.

During the Tech-Ed IT Professionals conference, Microsoft and industry experts will share their expertise about how to architect, deploy, manage and help secure a connected enterprise.

There are 19 technical tracks for IT Professionals, including Identity and Access, Database Platform, Microsoft IT, SOA and Web Infrastructure, SQL Server, Virtualization and Microsoft Server Infrastructure. This year, there are approximately 440 sessions within these technical tracks.

Microsoft will host a Technical Learning Center, which includes Microsoft product demo stations, interactive theaters, hands-on labs, instructor-led labs and community lounges. According to Microsoft, these sessions and demos will help IT professionals work through new technologies or examine current, unresolved issues with Microsoft professionals.

There will also be hundreds of sponsor booths that give attendees the opportunity to test-drive the latest technologies and solutions from Microsoft partners, including Brocade, Dell, EMC, HP and NetApp.

Attendees can also sign up for optional pre-conference seminars, which are full-day classes on a variety of topics, including high availability planning with Windows Server 2008, and business intelligence using the Microsoft Business Intelligence Suite.

The event will kick off with a keynote address from Bob Muglia, senior vice president of server and tools business at Microsoft, on Tuesday, June 10. Tech-Ed After Dark, on Thursday night, is a party for attendees, sponsored by Microsoft. Universal Studios will also close early on both Thursdays of Tech-Ed for private parties.
