VMware Certifies Thin Client Vendors

May 23, 2008 —  VMware announced on May 19 a new certification program for thin client devices that allows enterprises to choose from more VMware-certified hardware options that work with VMware's virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) technology.

The company said that open standards ensure that thin client devices running on multiple platforms will give virtual desktop users a consistent experience. Companies can choose what type of device suits their business needs, rather than being limited to a specific device that will only support their VDI, adds the company.

The certification aims to help companies find the best solution for their needs. With a rapidly increasing community of thin client vendors, customers can use the certification to guide them to products that are specifically designed and optimized to work with VMware virtual desktops.

Chip PC, Computer Lab International, Devon IT, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, HP, IGEL, NEC, Pano Logic, Praim by CompuMaster, Sun Microsystems and Wyse are among the vendors who will be certifying their clients as part of the new program.
