ScriptLogic Bundle Offers Total Management of Active Directory

June 3, 2008 —  ScriptLogic Corp., a provider of systems life-cycle management solutions for Microsoft Windows-based networks, released yesterday its Active Directory Management Solution, a new three-solution bundle that helps companies manage roles, track daily tasks and monitor a system’s overall health.

Active Directory Management Solution, which is licensed by user account and is available for up to US$30 per user, bundles Quest ActiveRoles Server and Spotlight on Active Directory with ScriptLogic’s just-released Active Administrator 5.0.

The new version of ScriptLogic’s Active Directory administration solution, Active Administrator, provides better performance and now offers enhanced usability and Active Directory auditing, as well as support for Microsoft Windows Server 2008, said Nick Cavalancia, ScriptLogic's VP of Windows management. It combines all the tasks an administrator needs to do—security, auditing, monitoring, etc.—in one solution, providing centralized event auditing, recovery and group policy management.

ActiveRoles Server allows administrators to delegate Active Directory authority to junior IT staff and to create approval workflows. “Overall, there are huge productivity gains for both administrators and end users, as you can delegate different responsibilities out to users,” said Cavalancia.

For example, he added, if a company did not have a solution to manage roles, every time someone in the billing department needed to change a password, they would have to get IT involved, wasting time and money. Similarly, to find out when someone last changed a password, they would have to manually go through thousands of event logs to do something that could be done faster with the Active Directory Management Solution.

Spotlight on Active Directory provides visual active directory health monitoring, problem diagnosis and performance optimization. “Think of it as red lights and green lights,” said Cavalancia. “You can easily see when your system is up and running and detect when something is wrong.”
