Netuitive Embraces Virtualization

June 23, 2008 —  Netuitive announced today a new version of its Netuitive Service Analyzer, which it said is the industry's first self-learning correlation software for managing performance of enterprise applications across mixed physical and virtual environments.

Netuitive, a company that provides self-learning performance management software for system and business service management (BSM), said that its Netuitive Service Analyzer product now includes new virtualization management capabilities, making it the only self-learning and continuously adaptive software for automating BSM across distributed servers, databases and network systems that are both physical and virtual.

According to Daniel Heimlich, vice president of marketing at Netuitive, the elements in a virtual environment are so interdependent that it is impossible to understand the meaning and impact of their relationships to one another. Netuitive Service Analyzer, which starts at US$20,000 per application view, requires absolutely no manual rules, scripts or thresholds—and no agents to deploy. Instead, it automates the baselining and thresholding processes; self-learns and continuously analyzes an environment’s normal behavior in real time; creates adaptive behavior profiles for all ESX servers, guest virtual machines and applications; and generates accurate and reliable performance thresholds.

According to Heimlich, the new version correlates the information gathered between physical and virtual environments, and gives a view of the entire environment. This helps solve the problem that many systems managers have with their systems management tools.

“One of the commonalities between these tools is that they’re all dependent on manual rules, scripts and thresholds,” Heimlich said. “There are so many constant changes in patterns and systems behaviors, you need to be able to counter and understand all these balances and key performance indicators, set thresholds and rules against those, counter a dynamic, constantly-changing environment, [it] is a human impossibility. Netuitive eliminates the human guesswork and replaces it with our data mathematics.”
