By
P J Connolly
October 8, 2008 —
Netgear announced its first dual-band Wireless-N VPN and firewall, the ProSafe model SRXN3205. It works in both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, allowing it compatibility with existing 802.11b and 802.11g networking gear. It can host up to five SSL-based VPN tunnels and five IPsec VPN tunnels simultaneously, for use in branch office (IPsec) or individual (SSL) remote access applications.
The company says the SRXN3205 is designed to protect against DoS attacks, and it offers stateful packet inspection, URL keyword filtering, syslog support, and reporting by e-mail. It is available from leading resellers and direct marketers, and it lists at US$485. Maintenance packages are also available.
The SRXN3205 has four Gigabit Ethernet ports for wired connectivity, and wireless security options include WPA/WPA2 and 802.1x with RADIUS support.
